V. REV. COR EPISCOPA PHILIP THOMAS

PRESIDENT

Very Rev. Philip Thomas is the President of YMCA of Kuala Lumpur and a respected Christian clergy leader. He serves as the President and Vicar of the Orthodox Syrian Church in Malaysia, providing pastoral leadership and spiritual guidance to the community.

He has held significant positions within the national and regional Christian ecumenical movement, including Past President of the Council of Churches of Malaysia (CCM) and Chairman of the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM). Internationally, he has contributed to the global YMCA movement as an Executive Committee Member of the World Alliance of YMCAs (WAY).

His longstanding service to the YMCA includes roles such as President of the Asia Pacific Alliance of YMCAs (APAY), Vice President of the National Council of YMCAs of Malaysia (NCYM), and currently, President of YMCA Kuala Lumpur. His leadership continues to strengthen YMCA KL’s mission, partnerships, and impact.

Paul Lim

VICE PRESIDENT

Mr. Lim Ngee Huat, Paul, is the Vice President of YMCA of Kuala Lumpur and a member of its Programmes & Youth Committee & Pusat Majudiri ‘Y’ For the Deaf Committee. He is a retired professional with over 50 years of experience, including 10 years as a teacher and approximately 40 years as an entrepreneur. He brings a wealth of knowledge and practical expertise to his roles at YMCA KL, where he is committed to supporting youth development and educational initiatives. Passed member of MIM Toastmasters Club KL & YMCA KL Toastmasters Club, Mr. Paul demonstrates strong communication, mentoring, and leadership skills. In his retirement, he continues to contribute his experience and guidance to YMCA KL, helping to inspire and nurture younger generations.

George Ong

HONORARY SECRETARY

Mr. George Ong is a long-serving and dedicated member of YMCA of Kuala Lumpur. He currently holds the positions of Honorary Secretary of YMCA of Kuala Lumpur and also the Chairperson of the Programmes & Youth and Pusat Majudiri Y for the Deaf.

He is the founder and owner of Georgie Sports, Kuala Lumpur, established in 1989, following a distinguished career as an Aircraft Avionics Instructor with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (1965–1986).

Mr. Ong is also actively involved in community and veteran-related organisations. He serves as a committee member of the Malaysian Armed Forces Chinese Veteran Association and supports initiatives under Jabatan Hal Ehwal Veteran (JHEV) ATM. A loyal member of the YMCA KL Table Tennis Club since 1975, he has participated in numerous YMCA Festival of Sports and previously served as Treasurer for six consecutive years. His commitment to service and community development continues to contribute significantly to the growth and impact of YMCA Kuala Lumpur.

DEP. HONORARY SECRETARY

Mr. Yap Kah Shen serves as the Deputy Honorary Secretary of the YMCA of Kuala Lumpur and brings with him diverse professional experience across the IT, marketing, and legal support sectors. His career includes roles in IT Support at the Perak Information Technology Center (PITC), Advertising and Marketing with Harian Sentosa Sdn. Bhd., IT consultancy under Shenchesh Service & Trading, and paralegal work with Donald Lai & Associates.

Mr. Yap is actively involved in various non-governmental and community organisations. He has been a member of several service clubs, including the Ipoh Rotary Club, Ipoh Rotaract Club, Lions Club Ipoh Central, Rotary International Foundation, and the Ipoh Love & Care Community. He is also a recipient of the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award and has served as a Befriender, offering emotional support to individuals in need. In 2004, he represented Malaysia as part of the Group Study Exchange (GSE) Program to the United States, further broadening his international exposure and leadership experience.

LOW CHEE TENG

HONORARY TREASURER

Mr. Low Chee Teng is the Honorary Treasurer of the YMCA of Kuala Lumpur and a retired accountant with extensive financial and corporate experience. He began his career in New Zealand, serving in the Accounts Department of Chubb NZ for approximately 2.5 years before returning to Malaysia in 1977 to join Malaysia Airlines (MAS). He served with MAS until his retirement in 2006, culminating in his role as Chief Financial Officer of the MAS Group. Throughout his career, he also held directorships in various MAS subsidiaries and associate companies, both locally and overseas.

A committed contributor to community and church initiatives, Mr. Low has served in numerous leadership and committee roles within Wesley Methodist Church Kuala Lumpur (WMCKL), including Past President of Methodist Men, Past Chairman of the Membership & Evangelism Committee, Committee Member of the Missions Committee, Bangsar Parish Leader, Committee Member of Stewardship & Finance, and Committee Member of the Bahasa Malaysia Ministry. In addition, he has served as Governance Adviser for Asia CMS Berhad.
