The Boys’ Brigade is a global uniformed youth movement that originated in 1883 in Glasgow, Scotland, by Sir William Alexander Smith. With a presence in over 60 countries, the Boys’ Brigade was introduced to Malaysia in 1946 and is recognized as an official uniformed-unit in schools, endorsed by the Ministry of Education and is an affiliate member of the Malaysian Youth Council.
Founded in 1957, the 3rd Kuala Lumpur Company (3rd KLBB) has a longstanding tradition with YMCA KL, offering boys the opportunity to grow into young leaders. Through leadership development, outdoor activities, and life skills training, we help shape boys into confident young men.

Join the 3rd KL Boys’ Brigade during our Recruitment Month in January. Dress in sportswear and be ready for action!
- Pre-Junior Section: Ages 6-8
- Junior Section: Ages 9-11
- Senior Section: Ages 12-19
What Will You Learn?
At the Boys’ Brigade, we offer leadership training, skill-building in areas like public speaking, music, and team-building, and the chance to develop lifelong friendships.
- Join the Brass Band: No music knowledge? Don’t worry, we’ll teach you.
- Be Part of the Drill Team: Build discipline and leadership skills.
- Earn Badges and Awards: Learn from arts and crafts to camping and first aid.
How to Join
The 3rd KL Boys’ Brigade is open to YMCA KL Junior Members aged 6-19. The company meets every Saturday at YMCA KL, where boys participate in a variety of activities such as team games and brass marching band practice.
- Junior Section (Ages 6-12): Saturdays, 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm
- Senior Section (Ages 12-19): Saturdays, 2:30 pm – 5:45 pm
- Senior Section Band: Saturdays, 5:45 pm – 7:30 pm
Basic Rules & Regulations
- All members must be YMCA KL Members.
- The 3rd Kuala Lumpur Boys’ Brigade is supported by the YMCA KL’s Community Development Dept (Christian Identity & Mission Unit).
